Overview of day
The program begins with the students meeting Mother Earth and understanding how to care for all her children. This is followed by 2 sessions, an Earthwalk in the forest and a play-based nature play experience.
During the nature play-based session, the children choose from a variety of available play experiences in bush surrounds. This unhurried, student led play allows the children time to connect with the land while supporting the development of their creative thinking, problem solving and social skills, as well as allowing opportunities to challenge their fine and gross motor skills.
During the forest walk session, the students are immersed in the forest of Bunyaville Conservation Park where they experience and explore the wonders of nature and, understand how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples connect with and care for Country.
The program concludes with a yarning circle where each child has the opportunity to share what they learned about caring for Mother Earth's children.
