Bunyaville Environmental Education Centre (Bunyaville EEC) is a Department of Education (DoE) School, situated in the Bunyaville Conservation Park on the northside of Brisbane about 14km from the CBD. Visiting Bunyaville EEC is like visiting another world, as you leave the hustle and bustle of roadways, traffic and city living and enter the peace and slow time of the forest.

Student learning

Bunyaville EEC takes learning beyond the classroom for students, teachers, visiting adults and community members, connecting the Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Frameworks in 3 ways:

  • visiting our Centre in the Brisbane Conservation Park
  • incursions at your school
  • surrounding school environs i.e. local catchments

We specialise in providing rich learning opportunities found in the forest and outside classrooms. Your students will discover, learn and apply new knowledge and multiple ways of knowing, by connecting to stories from our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the land, while participating in real-life, hands-on learning.  Bunyaville EEC also applies powerful age-appropriate pedagogies for our Kindy to Year 1 students enhancing, deepening and extending student learning through play and inquiry learning.

Bunyaville EEC's strength lies in its innovative programs and in the powerful pedagogies used in student learning. Staff members have a deep connection with and a strong local knowledge about the natural world. This is used in teaching students in a range of areas including catchment health and the management of natural resources while skilfully facilitating opportunities for student engagement across not only subject areas but in wellbeing and leadership.

Teachers from K–Year 12 partner with Bunyaville EEC teachers to help students deepen their learning - how students learn is critical to their success.

Professional development

Bunyaville EEC can provide the following professional development opportunities for teachers and educators during/after school or on Student Free Days:

  • Kindergarten to Year 1 teachers and educators: Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives as part of a whole School/Early Learning Centre approach.
  • Kindergarten to Year 12 teachers and educators: Indigenous Games: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditional games

Please contact Ollie Narbey, Principal to discuss how we can tailor make your professional development needs.  principal@bunyavilleeec.eq.edu.au or Mobile: 0477 330 047
